How can we, as faculty, gain insight into what our students are learning and developing? The process of assessment can be intimidating, but faculty already possess many of the skills necessary to engage in this activity.

This workshop serves two purposes: (1) to introduce faculty to the concepts, tools, and practices of assessment, and (2) to form a learning community -- FLAG -- that will meet two additional times to develop and implement assessment plans for their local contexts.

Participants are encouraged to attend with one or more partners from their home departments to collaborate on an assessment plan. Faculty who complete Workshop A: Introduction to Assessment will be invited to participate in a follow-up workshop to further develop and carry out their assessment plan.

This is a hybrid event, so come in person to the OFE's new faculty lounge (Building 1, Room 1401) or attend via Zoom.

  • Facilitators: Dr. Brian Lane, Visiting Lecturer, Department of Physics, Faculty Excellence Fellow; and Dr. Gordon Rakita, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and AVP of Faculty Excellence
