FL-DSSG program hosted at the University of North Florida (UNF) blends data science and technology design to inform and solve critical social problems in Northeast Florida. FL-DSSG is a partnership between the Nonprofit Center for Northeast Florida and the UNF. FL-DSSG program is an intensive 12-week internship that invites students to tackle data-rich projects that have the potential for substantial social impact. The internship program runs from June 1st to August 21st, supports seven interns and three community partners. Each project addresses a wicked problem facing Florida residents such as juvenile recidivism, early childhood development and adult literacy. The UNF Foundation, Jaguars Foundation and FIS Distinguished Computing Professorship Award fund the 2020 FL-DSSG Internship program.

At the event, DSSG interns will discuss findings and reveal insights gained from the Center for Children’s Rights, Episcopal Children’s Services and Literacy Alliance of Northeast Florida projects. UNF President Szymanski and Provost Rhodes will attend and speak at the event.
