Student groups will design for the wicked problem and will use the Design Thinking process to propose solutions to a team of judges (sponsored by Honors and Blackstone), and will include guest speakers from the Jacksonville AI community.
Wicked Problem: Bridging the Digital Divide & Fostering Lifelong Learning in Jacksonville
Context: Jacksonville faces a significant digital divide, impacting access to education, economic opportunity, and civic engagement. This divide disproportionately affects underserved communities, including low-income households, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Simultaneously, the rapidly evolving job market demands continuous learning and adaptation, making lifelong learning crucial for individual and community prosperity. UNF, as a major anchor institution, has a responsibility and opportunity to leverage its resources and expertise to address this challenge.
The Problem: How might we, using AI and design thinking, create sustainable solutions that bridge the digital divide in Jacksonville, empowering individuals from across the entire lifespan to engage in lifelong learning and thrive in the 21st-century economy?
Prize structure: First- $1,500, Second-$1000 and Third-$500
Deadline for registration March 21, 2025. Limited to 35 teams.
