Dr. Ángeles Fernández Cifuentes and Dr. Johana Barrero will discuss their work creating virtual reality experiences, 3D visualizations, and other immersive media in collaboration with students in the context of teaching about the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Their work in these areas relates to the OER Immersive Multimedia Materials Project and Accessible Classics: Digital Adaptations for People with Reading Difficulties, both affiliated projects of the DHI. Dr. Fernández Cifuentes and Dr. Barrero will discuss the pedagogical, technical, and ethical aspects of immersive technologies, which can provide opportunities for innovation, as well as greater inclusion and access, in education. This event is cosponsored by the Digital Humanities Institute and the Office of Faculty Excellence.
