Whether you're a beginner artist or have never picked up a paintbrush, this class is for you. No drawing or art experience is necessary, and we encourage you to unleash your creativity in a welcoming and supportive environment. Students will work on beginner methods of drawing with oil pastels, including layering, blending, directional line work, and more. Step-by-step instructions and stencils will assist with basic drawing capabilities, and the final product will be a still-life of fruit. Students will be encouraged to check out the exhibition Honoring Joan Mitchell, which features works of gestural abstraction in both paint and oil pastel.

Studio Practice is a monthly series of hands-on, practical art classes where students of all levels learn to create in varying media with the instruction of a local artist. Open to adults and teens in the company of an adult.
